Adopt a Stingray

Stingray

Commonly inhabiting the shallow coastal waters of temperate seas, a stingray’s diet consists of fish, worms, crustaceans, clams, crabs, shrimp and mollusks. This flat, cartilaginous fish has eyes mounted on the side on top of its head, with respiratory openings just behind the eyes. When threatened, a stingray lashes out with its tail and tries to sting the intruder with one of its spines, which contain poison glands. Stingrays are vulnerable to the many toxic pollutants released into their habitats. Show More
