All the females in a flock lay their eggs in the same nest; the male plays an important role in raising the young, helping build the nest, guarding the eggs, and chasing off predators. During the dry season, large groups (up to 700 birds ) will gather peacefully at a water source while staying among their flock. Sometimes, one flock will adopt the young of another.
